So I've just read an interesting paper on the differences between the earnings of men and women which is somewhere around 75 cents per dollar if you don't adjust it for anything.
Here are some of the results:
    1. A person in the same job gets the same payment
    2. The distribution of which jobs are favored are heavily weighted to favor men
(ergo, men are basically unchallenged in jobs that are mostly sought out by men, while women often compete with men in the jobs they seek out)
    3. If a women tries to get a typical "man" job in the industry, she will have a really hard time to get employed, possibly due to bias against women.
This does not apply to research or medicine
    4. There were not enough men interested in typical "women" jobs to figure out whether the same applies to them
    5. Women are far less flexible when it comes to the jobs they will do than men
The study is from 2015 and done in Germany

Funny enough, we had a couple girls in my nursing class bring in an article about the wage gap between male and female nurses, but further research showed that the gap existed because men tended to work nights more then females (which almost universally grants a night differential) and men tended to work more overtime, and when you controlled for this it became unclear if there was any difference at all. I do believe there is a 'gap' but I think a lot of it has to do with socialization and men being more likely to seek raises, and do so more aggressively. We need to promote that same strength and confidence in women. I'm sure there are inequalities in hiring practices as well, especially for jobs typically deemed to be 'male' jobs, and I'm ok with fighting against that. What I'm not ok with is lowering physical standards for labor intensive jobs. It's a tricky subject, and some people want to have their cake and eat it too, but there needs to be a balance.

The next time a woman pays for my date, buys me a mandatory random bunch of flowers, or showers me with little gifts just so I don't act like a bitch all month, she can complain all she wants about a wage gap.
    the Equality is a lie

I really hate this argument that life should be imbalanced in one area and equal in another.

There was a similar study done in Germany, where they were looking at all jobs within the hospital sector and the big thing was, that 40% of women work part-time and 3% of men. If you adjust for this there still is roughly 10-15% difference in earnings. This was due to male doctors specializing more and being a specialist increased their income.
